\nPrime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday met Qatar\u2019s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and underscored the importance of de-escalation and dialogue amid the ongoing regional situation.
\nThe meeting took place shortly after the prime minister\u2019s arrival in Doha following his visit to Saudi Arabia a day earlier.
\nThe premier\u2019s arrival at Doha International Airport marked the second leg of his April 15-18 tour, as Islamabad steps up efforts to engage key regional partners amid evolving geopolitical dynamics.
\n\u201cI had a most warm and cordial meeting with my dear brother, Amir of Qatar His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in Doha today,\u201d PM Shehbaz said in a post on X.
\nThe prime minister thanked Sheikh Tamim on behalf of the people of Pakistan for the exceptionally warm and generous gesture of sending Qatar\u2019s fighter jets to escort our aircraft as it entered Qatari airspace.
\n\u201cI am truly touched by this gesture, which also embodies the spirit of Qatar\u2019s renowned hospitality and the strength of our enduring ties,\u201d he remarked.
\nThe premier further stated: \u201cWe discussed the evolving regional situation, particularly in the Gulf region, and underscored the importance of de-escalation, dialogue, and close international coordination to ensure peace and stability.
\nThe prime minister also reiterated Pakistan\u2019s condemnation of attacks targeting Qatar and other regional countries, expressing solidarity with the Qatari people.
