Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Thursday held consultations with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf parliamentarians on the health of Imran Khan, the ongoing Rehai Aman Tehreek and the proposed public gathering in Mardan, along with key political and governance matters.
\nThe meeting was attended by PTI lawmakers from Peshawar, Malakand, Kohat, northern Punjab, as well as delegations from District Khyber, where participants deliberated on the overall political situation, organisational affairs and future strategy.
\nSpeaking on the occasion, the chief minister said Imran Khan\u2019s health was not a political issue but a matter concerning his life and wellbeing. He expressed concern over the continued denial of access to the former prime minister\u2019s family members and personal physicians, terming the situation alarming.
\nAfridi said Imran Khan\u2019s return was indispensable in the national interest, adding that all constitutional and democratic avenues would be utilised in this regard.
\nReferring to the planned public gathering in Mardan, he alleged that negative propaganda had been launched to undermine the event, but maintained that the public would reject such attempts. He added that efforts to sabotage the gathering and create instability would not succeed, asserting that the opposition\u2019s narrative would be defeated on the 19th.
\nThe chief minister informed participants that a jirga of lawyers would be convened on Friday, followed by similar consultative jirgas with other segments of society to develop a unified strategy through broader engagement.
\nReaffirming the party\u2019s stance, he said Imran Khan remained unjustly incarcerated despite his contributions to the country, adding that the party leadership and workers stood firmly with him and would continue efforts for his release and the protection of public rights.
\nAfridi said the provincial government was focusing on strengthening governance and public welfare in line with Imran Khan\u2019s vision to provide relief to citizens. He added that work on the upcoming Annual Development Programme was underway, with region-wise consultations planned to incorporate public input.
