ISLAMABAD
\nDeputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar on Sunday announcing the end of Islamabad Talks between the United States of America and Iran said that it was imperative that the parties continued to uphold their commitment to ceasefire.
\n\u201cWe hope that the two sides continue with the positive spirit to achieve durable peace and prosperity for the entire region and beyond. It is imperative that the parties continue to uphold their commitment to ceasefire,\u201d the deputy prime minister, briefing the media here on the conclusion of the peace talks.
\nDar told the media that he, along with the Chief of Defence Forces and Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir helped mediate several rounds of \u201cintense and constructive\u201d negotiations between the two sides that continued through the last 24 hours and ended on Sunday morning.
\nHe reaffirmed that Pakistan had been and would continue to play its role to facilitate engagement and dialogue between Iran and the United States in the days to come. Dar thanked both the countries for responding to the call made by the Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif for an immediate ceasefire in the region as well as for accepting Prime Minister\u2019s invitation for holding peace talks in Islamabad.
