\nChief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Thursday expressed serious concern over the continued detention and restricted medical access of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi.
\nSpeaking at a press conference at Chief Minister\u2019s House Mr Afridi underscored that safeguarding their rights, adhering to democratic principles, and prioritizing national interest and diplomacy remain central to the party\u2019s approach amid ongoing political and international challenges.
\nThe Chief Minister stressed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has consistently advocated avoiding entanglement in external conflicts, prioritizing diplomacy and negotiating solutions. He criticized past policy missteps for their long-term impacts, particularly on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the past two decades.
\nOn the political front, Afridi said that following Imran Khan\u2019s directives, today\u2019s protest was postponed due to the prevailing international situation, describing the decision as a demonstration of political maturity and restraint aimed at safeguarding Pakistan\u2019s national interest and international standing. He contrasted PTI\u2019s approach with previous political practices, citing controversies like Dawn Leaks and Memogate, and maintained that Imran Khan has consistently prioritized state interests above politics.
\nOn regional policy, the Chief Minister underscored that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should be included in consultations concerning Afghanistan. He highlighted the importance of involving provincial political leadership, tribal elders, and local representatives to ensure trust and effective outcomes, stressing the need for culturally informed engagement that respects Pashtun social norms and jirga mechanisms.
\nAfridi also revealed that Imran Khan has directed PTI to organize a major public gathering in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa soon, with consultations underway to finalize the date and venue. He warned that continued political marginalization of PTI would compel the party to exercise its constitutional right to organize peaceful protests.
