{"id":95898,"date":"2026-04-06T05:17:48","date_gmt":"2026-04-06T00:17:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nabanews.pk\/en\/?p=95898"},"modified":"2026-04-06T05:17:48","modified_gmt":"2026-04-06T00:17:48","slug":"suspects-in-attempted-murder-attack-on-dr-asif-malik-arrested-ccpo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nabanews.pk\/en\/suspects-in-attempted-murder-attack-on-dr-asif-malik-arrested-ccpo\/","title":{"rendered":"Suspects in attempted murder attack on Dr. Asif Malik arrested: CCPO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> PESHAWAR<br \/>\nPolice on Sunday claimed to have traced and arrested the suspects involved in the attempted murder of a prominent transplant surgeon Prof Asif Malik in University Town within 24 hours of the incident.<br \/>\nAddressing a press conference CCPO Peshawar Dr Mian Saeed termed the case a \u201cchallenging investigation\u201d resolved through modern forensic and surveillance techniques.<br \/>\nAs per details, , Dr Asif Malik was attacked late on the night of March 31, 2026, at around 11:05pm while returning home from his clinic within the limits of the Town police station.<br \/>\nUnidentified assailants opened fire on him, leaving him critically injured with multiple bullet wounds.<br \/>\nA first information report (FIR) was registered at Town police station on the complaint of the victim\u2019s son, Yousuf Malik, under case number 348 dated March 31, 2026, invoking sections 324 and 427 of the Pakistan Penal Code.<br \/>\nSoon after the incident, CCPO Peshawar told reporter that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted under the supervision of SSP Operations Farhan Khan and SSP Investigation Ayesha Gul.<br \/>\nHe said that team comprised SP Cantt Division Abdullah Ihsan, DSP Town Circle Arbab Naeem Haid, DSP Cantt Investigation Imran Alam, SHO Town Uzair Khan, SHO Hayatabad police station Kamran Marwat, Investigation Officer Inam Khan and other personnel.<br \/>\nCapital police chief stated that the team carried out a comprehensive probe using \u201cmodern scientific methods,\u201d relying heavily on footage obtained from the Safe City project as well as other closed-circuit television cameras installed in the area.<br \/>\n\u201cThe surveillance data proved crucial in identifying the suspects and tracing the vehicle used in the attack, he said and added that during the course of the investigation, police arrested two suspects identified as Sultan Raza Jan Khan, son of Muhammad Rafiq Khan, and Shafyat Hussain, son of Muhammad Nabi both residents of Asterzai, Kohat.<br \/>\nPolice officer told reporter that during interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime and disclosed that the attack stemmed from a financial dispute with the victim.<br \/>\nHe further claimed to have recovered the vehicle used in the incident, a VESEL motorcar bearing registration number BF-6845 (Sindh), along with the weapon allegedly used in the shooting.<br \/>\nAuthorities said further investigation was underway and legal formalities were being completed to ensure the case reaches its logical conclusion.<br \/>\nCCPO Peshawar Mian Saeed reiterated police commitment to maintaining public safety, stating that the use of modern technology and coordinated investigative efforts would continue to play a key role in preventing and solving crime in the provincial capital.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PESHAWAR Police on Sunday claimed to have traced and arrested the suspects involved in the attempted murder of a prominent transplant surgeon Prof Asif Malik in University Town within 24 hours of the incident.
