\nUnited States President Donald Trump on Tuesday urged countries that did not help in the US-Israeli strikes on \u200bIran to buy American oil and go to \u200cthe Strait of Hormuz and \u201cjust take it\u201d.
\nTrump singled out Britain and France as unhelpful in the month-long \u200bwar that has roiled global markets, driven \u200bup energy prices and seen Iran effectively close oil tanker traffic through the Strait.

\n\u201cAll \u200bof those countries that can\u2019t get jet fuel \u200bbecause of the Strait of Hormuz, like the United Kingdom, which refused to get involved in the decapitation \u200bof Iran, I have a suggestion for \u200byou: Number 1, buy from the US, we have plenty, \u200cand Number 2, build up some delayed courage, go to the strait, and just take it,\u201d Trump said in a Truth Social post.
\n\u201cYou\u2019ll have \u200bto start \u200blearning how to fight for yourself, the USA won\u2019t be there to help you \u200banymore, just like you weren\u2019t there \u200bfor us,\u201d Trump wrote, adding, \u201cThe hard part is done. Go get your own oil!\u201d
\nHe also criticised France for not letting \u200bplanes carrying military supplies to \u200bIsrael fly over French territory.
\nMeanwhile, in a press briefing, US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said that the next few days in the Middle East conflict will be decisive, adding that there had been major desertions from the Iranian armed forces.
\n\u201cWe have more and more options, and they have less \u2026 in only one month we set the terms, the upcoming days will be decisive,\u201d Hegseth said. \u201cIran knows that, and there\u2019s almost nothing they can militarily do about it,\u201d he added.
\nHegseth, citing intelligence, said the strikes were damaging the morale of the Iranian military. This, he said, was triggering widespread desertions, key personnel shortages and causing frustration amongst senior leaders.
\nHe also said he had visited troops in the Middle East on Saturday to witness the military operation against Iran.
\nOn the Strait of Hormuz, Hegseth said more vessels were flowing through the strait thanks to Trump, adding that the world should be prepared to step up and that objectives had been very clear.
\n\u201cTrump has led, the US laid the conditions for success,\u201d he said.
\nOn the question of US troops in Iran, Hegseth said no option would be foreclosed, adding that the point was to be unpredictable on whether the US deployed boots on the ground or not. He said the timeline could be \u201cfour, six, eight weeks or any number\u201d.
\nTop US General Caine added that US troops were out there and Iran should consider diplomacy.
\nOn negotiations, Hegseth said talks were ongoing and gaining strength, calling the back and forth a productive development. \u201cWe want a deal, if not we\u2019re prepared to continue,\u201d he said, adding that the US remained committed to a conflict that ended on \u201cour terms and Trump\u2019s terms\u201d.
\nAsked about reports of Russia and China aiding Iran, Hegseth said: \u201cAs far as Russia and China, we know exactly what they\u2019re doing, what they are or are not doing.
\n\u201cWe don\u2019t have to air publicly what all of that is, but where necessary, we\u2019re addressing it, we\u2019re mitigating it, or we\u2019re confronting it head-on.\u201d
