KYIV: President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine\u2019s military struck a key plant in Russia\u2019s Bryansk region bordering Ukraine on Tuesday that produces components for missiles .<\/p>\n
Ukraine\u2019s military said British Storm Shadow missiles were deployed against the Kremniy factory and posted a video which it said showed explosions and a fire at the plant. It said the facility produced critical \u2060missile components.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur fighters \u2060struck one of the important Russian military factories in Bryansk,\u201d Zelensky said in his nightly video address, referring to a report from top Ukrainian commander Oleksandr Syrskyi.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe plant produced electronics and components for Russian missiles. The very missiles that \u2060strike our cities, our villages and civilians,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The governor of Bryansk region, Alexander Bogomaz, said on Telegram that six civilians were killed and 37 injured and posted a video showing him at the scene.<\/p>\n
Bogomaz made no mention of the plant in what he described as a \u201cterrorist missile attack.\u201d The injured were being treated in hospital.<\/p>\n
The Ukrainian military\u2019s general staff, posting on Telegram, described the \u2060plant \u2060as \u201ca critically important link in the chain of production of Russian high precision weapons\u201d producing semiconductor devices and integrated micro chips.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe target was hit and significant damage to production facilities was recorded,\u201d the General Staff said. \u201cThe extent of the damage is being clarified.\u201d<\/p>\n
