US president lashes out at Starmer over bases row, vows to \u2018remember\u2019 Britain\u2019s hesitation in Iran conflict

\nUnited States President Donald Trump said on Saturday Britain was giving \u201cserious thought\u201d to sending two aircraft carriers to the Middle East, but added that the US does not need them to win the war with Iran, in the latest clash between the military allies.
\nTrump has repeatedly criticised British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, suggesting this week that he helped \u201cruin\u201d the countries\u2019 historically close relationship after London blocked initial US use \u200cof British bases to attack Iran.
\nIn a post on Truth Social, Trump said he \u201cwill remember\u201d the lack of British support during the conflict with Iran.
\n\u201cThe United Kingdom, our once Great Ally, maybe the Greatest of them all, is finally giving serious thought to sending two aircraft carriers to the Middle East,\u201d Trump wrote. He added, \u201cThat\u2019s OK, Prime Minister Starmer, we don\u2019t need them any longer \u2014 But we will remember. We don\u2019t need people that join Wars after we\u2019ve already won!\u201d
\nThe social media post comes after Britain\u2019s defence ministry said on Saturday it was preparing the Prince of Wales aircraft carrier for possible deployment.
\nBut no final decision has been taken about whether to send it to the Middle East, a British official said.
\nStarmer defends stance on bases
\nStarmer has defended his decision not to allow US forces to use British bases to support initial strikes on Iran, saying he needed to be satisfied that any military action was legal and well planned.
