\nThe National Highways & Motorway Police (NHMP), prioritizing the safety of motorcyclists\u2019 lives, has formally launched awareness and corrective campaign titled \u201cNo Fine, Just Helmet.\u201d The initiative aims not only to ensure enforcement of traffic laws but also to promote responsible behavior among road users and strengthen the overall road safety culture in the country.
\nUnder this campaign, motorcyclists found riding without helmets are not immediately fined. Instead, they are advised and encouraged to purchase and wear a helmet on the spot.
\nNHMP officers educate riders about the importance of helmet use, the potential risks involved in riding without protection, and the severe consequences of head injuries in the event of a road traffic crash.
\nAccording to the campaign\u2019s procedure, if a motorcyclist purchases and wears a helmet at the time of checking, no fine is imposed. However, strict legal action is taken against repeat violators to ensure continued compliance with traffic laws and to maintain the writ of the law.
\nThe primary objective of this initiative is not to penalize citizens but to safeguard their lives. Research has consistently shown that head injuries are a leading cause of death and disability in road accidents, while the use of a standard-quality helmet significantly reduces the risk of fatal and serious injuries.
