On the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi reiterated unwavering support for the Kashmiri people and strongly condemned the continued human rights violations in Indian-occupied Kashmir.
\nIn his message, the Chief Minister said that the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people was their fundamental and inalienable right, which could not be suppressed through force. He stated that since 1947, the people of Kashmir had been subjected to oppression, military siege and grave human rights abuses.
\nSohail Afridi emphasized that the government and people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa stood shoulder to shoulder with their Kashmiri brothers and sisters at every forum.
\nHe said that extrajudicial killings and enforced disappearances in occupied Kashmir were clear violations of international laws and human rights conventions.
\nThe Chief Minister urged the United Nations to take practical and effective steps to ensure the implementation of its resolutions and to grant the Kashmiri people their right to self-determination.
\nHe further stated that lasting and sustainable peace in the region was directly linked to a just and peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue. Highlighting Pakistan\u2019s diplomatic efforts, the Chief Minister said that former Prime Minister Imran Khan had presented the Kashmir case boldly and effectively at international forums, drawing global attention to the plight of the Kashmiri people.
