HAMBURG: German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on Monday called the \u201clevel of violence\u201d in the United States \u201cworrying\u201d after US federal officers fatally shot a second protester in Minneapolis.<\/p>\n
\u201cI assume that the American authorities will now really investigate whether it was necessary to shoot… whether there really was a threat to the officers involved,\u201d Merz said.<\/p>\n

Earlier on Monday, the German foreign ministry warned travelers to the United States to be \u201cvigilant\u201d and exercise increased caution because of \u201cviolent clashes with immigration and security authorities\u201d in Minneapolis and other US cities.<\/p>\n
\u201cRemain calm and follow the instructions of the authorities and local security forces,\u201d the updated travel advisory urges.<\/p>\n
On Saturday, US Border Patrol officers shot and killed 37-year-old nurse Alex Pretti on the fringes of a deportation raid in Minneapolis, Minnesota.<\/p>\n
Less than three weeks earlier, an ICE immigration officer shot and killed Renee Good, a mother of three, in the same city.<\/p>\n
