\nKhyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on Thursday paid a surprise visit to Government Shaheed Mubeen Shah Afridi Higher Secondary School, Peshawar, where he reviewed the educational environment and interacted directly with the school administration, teachers and students.
\nDuring the visit, the chief minister was briefed on the available facilities and shortcomings at the school. He directed the relevant authorities to provide missing facilities in government schools on a priority basis and ordered installation of CCTV cameras in all government schools to ensure security and monitoring.
\nThe chief minister announced that free textbooks would be provided to all students at the start of the new academic session. He also revealed that ethics would be introduced as a subject in the curriculum, emphasizing that education along with proper training is essential to develop morally sound, responsible and successful individuals.
\nSohail Afridi stressed that teachers and doctors are the most important pillars of society, saying that the future of children lies in the hands of teachers, while the health of the people depends on doctors. He urged the school administration and teaching staff to focus on delivering quality education and assured that deficiencies in government schools would be addressed.
