MOSCOW: The Kremlin said on Wednesday that President Vladimir Putin had accepted some US proposals to end the war in Ukraine and rejected others and that Russia was ready to meet US negotiators as many times as it took to reach an agreement.<\/p>\n
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was speaking after talks in Moscow between Putin and US President Donald Trump\u2019s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, and son-in-law Jared Kushner went into the early hours of Wednesday morning, with a Kremlin aide saying afterwards that \u201ccompromises have not yet been found.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are grateful for the efforts of (US President Donald) Trump\u2019s administration and we are still ready to meet as many times as is needed to reach a peace settlement,\u201d Peskov said.<\/p>\n
Peskov said that the Russian side had voiced what was \u201cunacceptable\u201d to them.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a normal process,\u201d Peskov said, adding: \u201cIt was the first time there was a direct exchange of opinions.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said Moscow was expecting the US to also be tight-lipped on the process for progress to be made.<\/p>\n
Peskov told reporters on Wednesday it would be wrong to say that Putin had rejected the US proposals, noting that the meeting was a first face-to-face exchange of opinions on them.<\/p>\n
