Minister of State for Finance and Railways Bilal Azhar Kayani on Sunday said the government has successfully stabilized the national economy.
\nSpeaking to a private news channel, he said the positive impact of economic reforms has now begun reaching the public.
\nKayani said the government had steered the country away from the brink of bankruptcy and placed it on a trajectory of economic takeoff.
\nHe added that long-term sustainability remained the government\u2019s primary focus. He noted that stronger enforcement and reforms implemented last year helped widen the tax net and increase revenues, a development also acknowledged by the IMF. The next phase of reforms, he said, would target high-income groups that remain outside the tax system.
\nThe minister underlined that export growth was essential for economic revival.
\nHe said the National Export Development Board, chaired by the Prime Minister, is reviewing key obstacles affecting export competitiveness.
\nHe added that the government was working to reduce energy costs and improve the business environment to support exporters.
\nKayani also praised Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for her initiatives aimed at uplifting underprivileged communities and promoting people-centered governance.
