Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif Thursday lauded King Charles for leading an exemplary life of public service and showing unwavering commitment to global causes.<\/p>\n
He was speaking at an event organized by British High Commission to celebrate the birthday of His Majesty King Charles.<\/p>\n
He said, \u201cI have always been a great admirer of his Majesty\u2019s infinite energy and his dedication and unwavering commitment to global causes, which continue to inspire millions across United Kingdom, the Commonwealth and far beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n
He appreciated the heartfelt condolences extended by the government of the United Kingdom on the dastardly terrorist attacks in Islamabad and other parts of Pakistan.<\/p>\n
\u201cTerrorism remains a grave threat to global peace and stability,\u201d he remarked adding, \u201cWith its valiant armed forces and resilient people, Pakistan stands united and determined to confront and defeat this scourge in all its forms and manifestations.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said, \u201cTonight as we celebrate His Majesty\u2019s birthday I recall my fond memories of the grand coronation ceremony that I attended personally two years ago.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cLast year in September I received a warm telephone call from His Majesty and we exchanged views on wide range of issues,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n
He said multifaceted partnership between Pakistan and United Kingdom will not have progressed without the personal interest and patronage of the royal family.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe also celebrate the enduring friendship between Pakistan and United Kingdom,\u201d he said, adding, \u201cAbout two million British citizens of Pakistani heritage add great value to this relationship and are playing a very productive role in all walks of life in the United Kingdom.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Prime Minister said, \u201cThousands of young Pakistanis have benefited from the programmes run by the British Council in Pakistan while thousands more have studied in British colleges and universities.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI am personally witness to the one of the finest programmes which was undertaken between DFID and the government of Punjab when I was heading the province,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a programme for education, health and skill development. Now this partnership is increasing in the provinces of Pakistan,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
The Prime Minister recalled with deep appreciation the numerous royal visits to Pakistan including visit of King Charles in 2006 as well as the historic visit of Queen Elizabeth.<\/p>\n
He reiterated his cordial invitation to His Majesty King Charles and her Majesty the Queen to visit Pakistan at the earliest convenience.<\/p>\n
The Prime Minister commended the British High Commissioner for contributing meaningfully to promote bilateral relations.
\nHe mentioned her important role in the revival of PIA flights to the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n
\u201cNow thousands of passengers fly to Manchester from Pakistan and soon there will be flights to London,\u201d he observed.
\nHe conveyed his prayers and best wishes for happiness, health and long reign of King Charles.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile candles continue to grow at the birthday cake each year, we pray for King Charles to continue inspiring the world with his humour, humanity and heart,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
British High Commissioner Jane Marriott in her remarks talked about the growing ties between Pakistan and her country.<\/p>\n
Later, Prime Minister along with the British High Commissioner cut the birthday cake.
