{"id":89440,"date":"2025-11-11T08:45:28","date_gmt":"2025-11-11T03:45:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nabanews.pk\/en\/?p=89440"},"modified":"2025-11-11T08:45:28","modified_gmt":"2025-11-11T03:45:28","slug":"gilani-meets-speaker-of-shura-council-of-state-of-qatar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nabanews.pk\/en\/gilani-meets-speaker-of-shura-council-of-state-of-qatar\/","title":{"rendered":"Gilani meets Speaker of Shura Council of State of Qatar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on Monday met with Hassan bin Abdullah Al-Ghanim, Speaker of the Shura Council of the State of Qatar.<br \/>\nThe Chairman Senate termed their participation in the conference as a strong expression of Qatar\u2019s parliamentary support for the promotion of peace, security, and sustainable development.<br \/>\nHe extended his best wishes to the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, and the brotherly people of Qatar.<br \/>\nDuring the meeting, the Chairman Senate highlighted that relations between Pakistan and Qatar are founded on mutual trust, respect, and Islamic brotherhood, said a news release.<br \/>\nHe expressed gratitude for Qatar\u2019s support to Pakistan in various sectors, particularly in energy, investment, and employment opportunities for Pakistani workers.<br \/>\nHe appreciated the Pakistani community in Qatar for serving as a bridge of friendship between the two nations and for their active contribution to Qatar\u2019s development.<br \/>\nThe Chairman Senate also lauded Qatar\u2019s positive role in promoting regional peace, mediation, and humanitarian efforts.<br \/>\nThe Chairman emphasised that parliamentary diplomacy could play a pivotal role in bringing the two nations closer together.<\/p>\n<p>He proposed institutionalising parliamentary linkages through the Pakistan-Qatar Parliamentary Friendship Group to facilitate regular exchanges and visits between parliamentarians and committees.<br \/>\nHe expressed Pakistan\u2019s interest in enhancing cooperation with the Shura Council in staff training, study visits, and exchange of knowledge and experience.<br \/>\nThe Chairman Senate appreciated the Shura Council\u2019s active participation in regional and international parliamentary forums and expressed hope for closer collaboration.<br \/>\nHighlighting the role of parliaments in advancing peace and stability, the Chairman Senate underscored that parliaments serve as key platforms for inclusive dialogue and the protection of human security.<br \/>\nHe said that a peaceful, prosperous, and interconnected Islamic world is the shared vision of Pakistan and Qatar.<br \/>\nHe further noted that both countries could strengthen cooperation through international parliamentary platforms such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA), and the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) to amplify their voice for global peace and sustainable development.<br \/>\nHe added that sustainable development is not possible without peace and security, and that true peace can only be achieved through social and economic justice.<\/p>\n<p>The Chairman appreciated Qatar\u2019s consistent and constructive role in regional conflict resolution and mediation efforts.<br \/>\nHe paid tribute to Qatar\u2019s humanitarian initiatives in support of the people of Palestine and lauded its facilitative role in the Doha peace talks held in October 2025, which led to a ceasefire between Afghanistan and Pakistan.<br \/>\nHe remarked that Qatar\u2019s leadership has always prioritised dialogue, peace, and stability, and reaffirmed Pakistan\u2019s full support for these efforts.<br \/>\nGilani said that Pakistan greatly values Qatari investment and looks forward to further expanding cooperation in the fields of energy, infrastructure, agriculture, information technology, and industry.<br \/>\nHe emphasised that both parliaments could play an instrumental role in creating a conducive policy environment for trade and investment.<br \/>\nHe also expressed Pakistan\u2019s desire for greater employment opportunities for its workforce in Qatar. 60% of our population consists of youth. They are skilled and semi-skilled and can contribute to the development of Qatar.<br \/>\nHe emphasised the importance of people-to-people contacts and underscored the need for enhanced parliamentary linkages.<br \/>\nThe Chairman Senate thanked Speaker Al-Ghanim for his participation in the conference and for sharing his valuable insights. He reaffirmed Pakistan\u2019s commitment to strengthening parliamentary cooperation and deepening fraternal relations with Qatar.<br \/>\nHe concluded that Pakistan and Qatar will continue to work together toward achieving their shared goals of peace, security, and development.<br \/>\nThe leader of the Qatar delegation expressed his satisfaction at visiting Pakistan and participate in the conference. \u201cOur relationship, he said, is deep-rooted. It is between people to people. We value our relations with Pakistan.\u201d<br \/>\nHe also agreed with the views of the Chairman Senate to further strengthen the institutional linkages.
