ISLAMABAD
\nThe federal cabinet on Wednesday approved a ban on the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) under the Anti-Terrorism Act, citing the party\u2019s involvement in activities detrimental to public order and national security.
\nThe decision was taken during a special cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The Interior Ministry presented a detailed report highlighting the party\u2019s recent violent protests, road blockades, and attacks on law enforcement personnel, which caused significant disruption to public life across the country.
\nOfficials said the ban aims to ensure the writ of the state and protect citizens from violence and extremism. The Interior Ministry has been directed to issue a formal notification and initiate the legal process to dissolve the organization, freeze its assets, and block its online platforms.
\nLaw enforcement agencies have also been instructed to remain on high alert to prevent any untoward incidents following the announcement.
