\nPakistan head coach Mike Hesson has promised a fearless approach as he believes that his side is ready for a high-voltage Asia Cup 2025 clash against arch-rivals India this Sunday in Dubai.
\nSpeaking at a press conference at Dubai International Cricket Stadium ahead of Pakistan\u2019s match against Oman on September 12, Hesson called the Pakistan-India match \u201cone of the greatest spectacles in world cricket.\u201d
\n\u201cI\u2019ve watched many of these games from afar, whether as a coach or commentator. Being right in the middle of such a highly charged event is exciting. For me, the key is to keep everyone focused on the job at hand,\u201d Hesson told reporters.
\nAcknowledging India\u2019s recent dominance, Hesson said, \u201cIndia are hugely confident and rightfully so, but we\u2019re focused on improving as a team day by day. We\u2019re looking forward to the challenge, not fearing it.\u201d
\nAbout pitch conditions, Hesson said Dubai offers very different challenges than Sharjah, \u201cWe\u2019ve got plenty of multi-skilled players, five quality spinners, including Mohammad Nawaz \u2014 who is the best spin bowler in the world right now \u2014 and a strong pace attack. We have the balance to adapt to any surface.\u201d
\nHesson also defended his team\u2019s batting lineup amid criticism of inconsistency, saying, \u201cThis is a developing batting group. Some players will win you games on their day. In Sharjah, we consistently scored above par totals, which is what matters. We\u2019re confident a few players will find form on Sunday.\u201d
\nWhen asked about language and communication, Hesson revealed he has learned enough Urdu to understand dressing room conversations. \u201cYou can\u2019t have players talking behind your back without you knowing what they\u2019re saying,\u201d he said with a smile.
