\nAC Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri confirmed that Croatian midfielder Luka Modric will join the Italian club following Real Madrid\u2019s participation in the FIFA Club World Cup.
\nThe 39-year-old, who announced his departure from Madrid in May after a distinguished 13-year stint, will make the move to the red side of Milan in August.
\nIn his first press conference since returning for a second spell as Milan boss, Allegri praised Modric\u2019s exceptional talent.
\n\u201cModric will arrive in August. He is an extraordinary player,\u201d Allegri said, expressing confidence in the Croatian\u2019s contribution to the team.
\nModric has featured in five substitute appearances for Real Madrid during their ongoing Club World Cup campaign, including a key role in the 3-2 victory over Borussia Dortmund, which secured a semi-final spot against Paris Saint-Germain set for July 9.
\nThe Ballon d\u2019Or winner in 2018, Modric leaves Madrid after a highly successful era, having won 28 trophies, including six Champions League titles and four La Liga titles, since his 2012 move from Tottenham Hotspur. He\u2019s become the most-decorated player in Real Madrid\u2019s history.
\nHis decision to join Milan is part of his ambitions to play at the highest level ahead of the 2026 World Cup, which he hopes to feature in.
\nAC Milan, who finished eighth in Serie A last season, have made significant changes to their squad.
\nMidfielder Tijjani Reijnders was sold to Manchester City, and there have been reports linking left-back Theo Hernandez with a move to Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal. Despite these departures, Allegri remains optimistic that goalkeeper Mike Maignan and forward Rafael Leao will remain at the club next season.
\nMilan are reportedly holding out for \u00a325 million for Maignan, following interest from Chelsea earlier this summer.
