KARACHI
\nInterior Minister Mohsin Naqvi while taking a major step has issued orders for launching effective and indiscriminate crackdown against hawala-hundi operators, beggar mafias, spurious medicine and non custom paid products.
\nHe visited the FIA Karachi Zone.
\nPresiding over a high-level meeting, Naqvi issued orders for initiating action against illegal money transfers besides directing the FIA to launch crack down on hawala-hundi operators, beggar mafias, spurious medicine and non custom paid products.
\nHe also emphasised action against agents smuggling beggars abroad, noting that such networks damage Pakistan\u2019s international image.
\nWhile issuing directives to bring to bring to justice the elements involved in hawala hundi said this illegal network be eliminated without succumbing to any pressure.
\nThis mafia is major threat to national economy.
\nNaqvi directed to take stern action against agents involved in sending the beggars abroad.
\nThis mafia is not only involved in human trafficking but it is hurting international image of Pakistan at international level. .
\nHe stressed deported professional beggars be taken into custody upon return immediately
\nHe declared zero tolerance for counterfeit medicine businesses, calling for strict legal action against those involved and saying, \u201cPeople running this criminal trade belong in jail.\u201d
\nNaqvi further instructed enforcement against non-custom paid goods and ordered action against travelers carrying over $5,000 abroad, insisting on legal proceedings in such cases.
\nMeeting was attended by Additional DG South Mujahid Akbar Khan, along with deputy and assistant directors from anti-money laundering, immigration, and anti-corruption units.
