\nA new chapter has been added to the history of women\u2019s sports in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as Bacha Khan University, Charsadda, organized provincial-level trials for female boxers under the Prime Minister\u2019s Youth Talent Hunt Program.
\nHeld at the boxing arena of Qayyum Stadium in Peshawar, the event marked a significant milestone by providing young girls from across the province with a safe, dignified, and well-structured platform to showcase their skills.
\nThe driving force behind this landmark event was Bacha Khan University\u2019s Director of Sports and former international athlete, Shabana Khattak.
\nHer passion, sincerity, and exceptional organizational skills were central to the successful execution of the trials. Known for her unwavering commitment to creating opportunities for women in sports, Shabana once again demonstrated her visionary leadership.
\nShabana Khattak personally engaged with the athletes, addressing their concerns and encouraging them at every stage. According to several participants, it was the first time they experienced such a supportive and friendly atmosphere in a sporting environment, enabling them to perform with confidence.
\nDozens of talented female boxers from various districts of the province\u2014including Peshawar, Mardan, Charsadda, Kohat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, and Swat\u2014participated in the trials with remarkable enthusiasm.
\nEach athlete showcased impressive skills, strength, and sportsmanship, affirming that international-level talent exists within the women of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. What they need are the right opportunities, guidance, and facilities.
\nThe event\u2019s chief guest was Federal Minister for SAFRON, Mr. Amir Muqam, who applauded the initiative and emphasized the importance of women\u2019s participation in sports.
\nHe stated that such activities not only help in unearthing talent but also boost women\u2019s confidence, allowing them to play an active role in society.
\nThe event was also attended by former Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra and representatives of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), who praised the initiative.
\nThey highlighted the critical role universities and educational institutions can play in promoting women\u2019s sports. Among the notable attendees was Ms. Raham Bi bi, former Director of Sports at Frontier College for Women, Peshawar\u2014an influential figure in the development of women\u2019s sports\u2014who lauded Shabana Khattak\u2019s leadership and emphasized the importance of such initiatives in driving real change.
\nA large number of teachers and students from women\u2019s colleges also attended the event. They not only praised the high standards and management of the trials but also paid tribute to Shabana Khattak\u2019s tireless efforts and exemplary leadership.
\nParticipating boxers expressed that it was the first time they were provided with an environment that combined respect, support, and professional guidance. For many, these trials were not just a competition but the realization of a dream, affirming their belief that they too can represent Pakistan on national and international stages.
\nThe trials were held under the supervision of the Provincial Boxing Association, with officials from various district associations in attendance.
