\nSecretary of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chess Association, Kashif Saleem, has announced a comprehensive and effective plan to promote chess across the province, including major cities like Peshawar. Speaking to the media, he revealed that a series of high-quality chess tournaments have already been held for both men and women, and the initiative will be expanded in the near future.
\n\u201cChess is a game of intellect that enhances decision-making, planning, concentration, and patience among youth,\u201d said Saleem. \u201cOur goal is to introduce this intelligent sport at the school and college level, so students can familiarize themselves with it from an early age.\u201d
\nHe further disclosed that the next phase of the plan includes organizing training camps and inter-school and inter-college chess competitions throughout the province. \u201cA detailed schedule is currently being prepared at the district level,\u201d he noted. \u201cThese camps will feature expert coaches from both the national and district levels, who will train players in modern strategies and techniques.\u201d
\nSaleem emphasized that there is no shortage of talent in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa\u2014what is needed is the right platform for young minds to showcase their abilities. \u201cIn pursuit of this mission, the association is enhancing collaboration with educational institutions and district administrations,\u201d he added.
\nHe also highlighted the impact of previously held tournaments under the Chess Association, which provided players from various cities with opportunities to compete and learn from each other, significantly improving their gameplay.
\n\u201cChess is a globally recognized sport that is widely regarded as a tool for intellectual development,\u201d he concluded. \u201cIf promoted consistently at the provincial level, especially in schools and colleges, Pakistan can produce world-class chess players in the future.\u201d
