Senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former Speaker National Assembly, Asad Qaiser, has said that Pakistan\u2019s current approach towards the Palestine issue stands in stark contrast to the founding principles of the country. He said that Pakistan is the only nation created in the name of the Islam and ideology, yet today\u2019s illegitimate government has adopted an apologetic stance on Palestine. He was addressing a condolence reference held in memory of Maulana Hamidul Haq Shaheed.
\nAsad Qaiser said the entire Muslim world is looking towards Pakistan for leadership. \u201cIt was the responsibility of the Government of Pakistan to take a leading role, call an emergency session of the OIC, and unify the Muslim Ummah on this pressing issue,\u201d he added.
\nHe also criticised the government\u2019s Kashmir policy, calling it weak and lacking direction. \u201cNever before has the nation seen such a troubling state of affairs,\u201d he remarked.
\nAsad Qaiser said that 45 cases, including seven under anti-terrorism laws, have been lodged against him \u2014 ranging from terrorism to sedition and murder. \u201cWhen the judiciary is under pressure and dictated to, how can justice be delivered?\u201d he questioned.
\nHe urged the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court to seize the historic opportunity to restore public trust and uphold the independence of the judiciary. \u201cAt present, the public has completely lost confidence in the justice system,\u201d he stated.
\nHighlighting foreign policy concerns, Mr Qaiser said the country is already in a state of confrontation with India, and now tensions are rising with Afghanistan as well. He said that it is deeply concerning that the Defence Minister declared on the floor of the House that Pakistan will target Afghanistan \u2014 a brotherly neighbouring nation.He emphasized that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa shares a border with Afghanistan and the region\u2019s economy is closely tied to cross-border relations. \u201cWe demand a thorough review of the country\u2019s policy towards Afghanistan,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
