\nPakistan and China on Sunday reiterated their commitment to regional peace and stability while jointly opposing unilateralism and hegemonic policies.
\nDeputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chinese Foreign Minister, to discuss the current regional situation.
\nThe two leaders agreed to maintain close communication and coordination at all levels to advance their shared objectives of peace, security, and sustainable development, Pakistan\u2019s Foreign Office said.
\nDar categorically rejected India\u2019s \u201cunilateral and illegal actions\u201d and dismissed what he described as \u201cbaseless propaganda\u201d against Pakistan.
\nExpressing appreciation for China\u2019s \u201cconsistent and unwavering support,\u201d Dar reaffirmed Pakistan\u2019s commitment to the two countries\u2019 \u201ciron-clad\u201d friendship and their shared vision of an all-weather strategic cooperative partnership.
\nHe also emphasised Pakistan\u2019s determination to further deepen bilateral cooperation across all sectors.
\nThe conversation comes amid heightened regional tensions following recent developments in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
\nEarlier this week, Pakistan warned that it would deliver a \u201cfirm, swift and decisive\u201d response to any Indian aggression, after New Delhi unilaterally suspended the Indus Waters Treaty following a deadly attack in disputed Kashmir.
\nThe April 22 assault in Pahalgam, IIOJK left 26 people dead, mostly tourists.
\nIndia responded by suspending the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty, closing its borders, downgrading diplomatic ties, and accusing Pakistan \u2014 without evidence \u2014 of cross-border terrorism support.
\nPakistan has strongly denied any involvement and has threatened countermeasures, including placing the Simla Agreement in abeyance and closing its airspace to Indian flights.
\nIn a Senate resolution, lawmakers stated that Pakistan \u201cremains fully capable and prepared to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity against any aggression,\u201d citing past military responses as precedent.
\nThe Senate also warned that any Indian misadventure would be met with a decisive response, while reaffirming Pakistan\u2019s commitment to regional peace and support for Kashmiris\u2019 right to self-determination.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
