Advisor to the Chief Minister on information Barrister Mohammad Saif has raised serious concerns about the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) led federal government\u2019s intentions, accusing it of using legislation like the Provincial Electronic Crime Act (PECA) to suppress the media and maintain its grip on power.
\nIn a press statement, Barrister Saif stated, \u201cThe federal government, which has deceived the media through the PECA Act, cannot be trusted in negotiations with PTI.\u201d
\nHe alleged that PECA was being used as a tool to silence dissent, while the 26th amendment has undermined the independence of the judiciary.
\nThe advisor went on to accuse the \u201cillegitimate federal government\u201d of spreading \u201cfake news\u201d and implementing \u201cfake laws\u201d to sustain its authority.
\nHe also criticized the inclusion of Irfan Siddiqui in the federal negotiation committee, citing his alleged role in past failures.
\nSaif highlighted what he called the stark contrast between Imran Khan\u2019s imprisonment in Adiala Jail and the Sharif family\u2019s confinement in Raiwind, questioning the fairness and integrity of the system.
