Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government spokesperson Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif on Monday called Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz\u2019s decision to establish Punjab Airlines \u201cridiculous,\u201d expressing surprise over the move.
\nAccording to an official handout, Barrister Saif noted the contradiction between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif\u2019s government selling national assets at significant prices while Maryam Nawaz pursues new acquisitions.
\nHe suggested that Maryam Nawaz was imitating former federal minister Ali Amin Gandapur\u2019s plans with the national carrier, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).
\nKP government spokesman questioned why Maryam believes she can succeed in revitalizing an airline when past governments led by her father, Nawaz Sharif, and uncle, Shehbaz Sharif, failed to do so despite multiple terms in power.
\nThe KP adviser accused the Sharif family of prioritizing personal gains over national interests and predicted that Punjab Airlines, funded by public money, would ultimately serve the family\u2019s needs.
\n\u201cIt wouldn\u2019t be surprising if a plane was dispatched to London for simple errands,\u201d Dr Saif remarked, suggesting that a more fitting name for the airline might be \u201cJati Amra Airline.\u201d
