Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur issued a stern warning to the government, stating that any further mistreatment of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder chairman Imran Khan would result in a nationwide shutdown.
\nIn a statement issued here on Tuesday, Gandapur expressed deep concern over reports from Imran Khan\u2019s sister, Aleema Khan, alleging poor treatment in jail, including cuts to his cell\u2019s electricity, restrictions on exercise, and inadequate food provisions.
\n\u201cI am warning the government that if there are any further complaints regarding Imran Khan\u2019s treatment or visitation rights, we are prepared to shut down the entire country,\u201d said Gandapur, calling on the nation to be ready for large-scale action.
\nThe Chief Minister criticized what he called a \u201cmandate-thieving government\u201d and reiterated that the PTI leadership and workers have remained peaceful but should not be forced into further action.
\nGandapur also stated that the current situation has brought committed and ideologically-driven individuals to the forefront of PTI.
\n\u201cThese are the people who will steer the party forward, and we are steadfast in our movement and purpose.\u201d He assured that the party\u2019s unity and resolve would lead to eventual success.
\nAli Amin Gandapur cautioned the government about the potential for escalation, stating that any further mistreatment of PTI leader Imran Khan could lead to unprecedented action.
\nReferring to a possible protest similar to the significant demonstration at Islamabad\u2019s D-Chowk, Gandapur indicated that PTI has a plan for the next steps, from which \u201cthere will be no escape for those in power.\u201d
\nGandapur emphasized that while PTI\u2019s leadership and supporters have consistently remained peaceful, they will not be restrained if provoked.
\n\u201cOur leaders and workers have always upheld peace, but do not push us. We are prepared to respond accordingly to those who disrespect Imran Khan\u2019s rights,\u201d he said. Gandapur expressed disappointment in figures he described as \u201cphilosophers of cowardice\u201d who, in his view, betrayed PTI\u2019s principles and are now visible on social media and news outlets.
\n\u201cHistory will remember these individuals as traitors,\u201d Gandapur asserted, condemning what he called acts of treason, whether by weakness or other motivations.
