The provincial chairman of the Qaumi Watan Party, Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao, expressed deep concern over the rising incidents of terrorism and the loss of hundreds of lives in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He highlighted the deteriorating law and order situation in areas such as North and South Waziristan, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, DI Khan, Tank, the merged districts, Malakand Division, and especially Peshawar, where daily target killings and terrorist attacks have become alarming.
\nSpeaking to various party delegations at the Qaumi Watan Party secretariat in Peshawar, he noted that the province is currently engulfed in terrorism, with the government\u2019s authority seemingly absent, creating a tragic scenario for the people.
\nIn 2024 alone, over 230 terrorist attacks have been reported, alongside abductions of tourists and government officials.
\nSherpao emphasized that no one is safe, as security forces, police personnel, and ordinary citizens fall victim to violence daily. He warned that the ongoing law and order crisis could severely impact the province\u2019s economy, affecting the personal lives and businesses of its residents.
\nHe criticized the rulers for their silence and negligence on this critical issue, leaving citizens anxious and at the mercy of terrorists. He cautioned that if the current wave of terrorism and target killings continues unchecked, it could threaten the entire country.
\nSherpao pointed out that the National Action Plan has not been adequately implemented and stressed that establishing peace and protecting citizens is a shared responsibility of both central and provincial governments. He called for a comprehensive strategy to address these challenges and urged effective measures to ensure the full implementation of the National Action Plan.
\nHe condemned the recent terrorist attacks, including the assault on a polio team in Orakzai, calling it an inhumane act, and expressed heartfelt sympathy for the victims\u2019 families.
