PESHAWAR: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Monday emphasized the importance of enhancing the Red Crescent\u2019s role for the benefit of the public and urged members to work diligently to secure funding from the international community.
\nHe said this in a meeting of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society\u2019s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chapter management committee was held under the chairmanship of Governor Faisal Karim Kundi.
\nThe meeting was attended by Chairman Malik Azmat Orakzai, Member of Provincial Assembly Ahmad Karim Kundi, Principal Secretary to the Governor Zubair Khattak, and other members.
\nDuring the meeting, Farzand Wazir was elected as Vice Chairman of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chapter, while Azra Jamshed was reappointed as Honorary Treasurer.
\nHe said the Red Crescent\u2019s well-established reputation for providing timely assistance during natural disasters and emergencies, highlighting its critical role in societal development.
\n\u201cThe Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Red Crescent is not only delivering exceptional services during natural calamities but also in various health sectors,\u201d he said.
\nThe Governor assured his support for the Red Crescent\u2019s projects and stressed the need for increased resources and measures to improve humanitarian efforts.
\nHe pledged to act as an advocate for securing federal funds, instructing all participants to expedite and enhance public welfare projects to ensure basic facilities are available in underdeveloped areas of the province.
\nThe meeting approved a seven-member Executive Committee for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Red Crescent, along with various sub-committees including Finance, Human Resources, Legal Property Rent, Health, Reverse Mobilization and Fundraising, and IT and Media. Proposals for establishing Emergency Response Centers in Dera Ismail Khan, Abbottabad, Mansehra, and Swat were also deemed essential.
\nGovernor inaugurates passport, Nadra offices in KP Assembly
\nGovernor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, on Monday inaugurated passport and Nadra offices in the provincial assembly.
\nThe event was attended by Speaker Babar Salim Swati, Deputy Speaker Suraya Bibi, Opposition Leader Dr. Ibadullah, PPP parliamentary leader PPP Ahmad Karim Kundi, Director General of Passport Mustafa Kamal Qazi, and Nadra Director Khalid Inayatullah, along with other assembly members and secretariat staff.
\nThe Governor\u2019s visit aimed to provide assembly members, secretariat staff, and press gallery representatives with the convenience of computerized identification cards and passports right at their doorstep.
\nThis marked Kundi\u2019s first visit to the provincial assembly as Governor, during which he also reviewed the assembly hall and the jirga hall.
\nTalking to media, Kundi expressed gratitude to the Federal Interior Minister for their significant support for the project.
\nHe acknowledged the critical role played by Speaker Babar Salim Swati in establishing the parliamentary jirga and emphasized the need to set aside political differences to focus on restoring peace.
\nKundi assured that the demands of the Pashtun jirga would be taken seriously and that all political parties would collaboratively address constitutional demands within the framework of Pakistan\u2019s constitution.
\nHe lamented that despite the 1991 agreement, the provision of water to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remains incomplete.
