PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government spokesperson Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif on Monday said that peaceful protest is the democratic right of all political parties. Reacting to recent statements made by federal ministers Khawaja Asif and Ahsan Iqbal, Barrister Saif criticized the federal government for denying permission to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to hold a public meeting in Islamabad, calling it a \u201clame excuse.\u201d
\nIn a statement issued from here , the KP government spokesperson said that the federal government was afraid of PTI\u2019s protests. He reiterated that the PTI\u2019s protests across the country will persist until the release of the party\u2019s founding chairman and former prime minister, Imran Khan, from jail.
\n\u201cThe protests will continue until the false cases against Imran Khan are dismissed and he is released, no matter how long the struggle takes,\u201d said Mr Saif.
\nHe accused the federal government of attempting to create unrest, likening it to the violence seen during the Model Town incident.
\nBarrister Saif also took aim at federal ministers, stating, \u201cKhawaja Asif, who lost the general election to a PTI female candidate, reached the National Assembly through Form 47.
