Commissioner Rawalpindi Division, Engineer Aamir Khattak along with Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rawalpindi, Hasan Waqar Cheema and members of Peace Committee here on Monday night visited the route of 7th Muharram ul Haram procession.
\nThe procession will start from Sadiqabad and culminate at the old Imambargah near Raja Bazar.
\nDuring the visit, the Commissioner reviewed the security and other arrangements made on the route of the procession.
\nOn this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner General, Hasan Tariq gave a detailed briefing regarding the arrangements made on the route.
\nThe ongoing work on Muharram procession routes should be completed within next two days, the Commissioner directed.
\nNegligence on part of the official concerned would not be tolerated, Aamir Khattak warned.
\nHe further instructed the authorities concerned that along with power lines, the condition of hanging PTCL and other wires should be improved.
\nHeavy rains during current Monsoon season were predicted by the Meteorological Department, he said adding, in view of the rains, cleaning of all small and large drains on the routes of Muharram processions should be ensured.
\nA special squad should be formed to ensure proper drainage in case of rain on the day of procession, the Commissioner said.
\nThe Commissioner said, \u201cI am personally supervising all the arrangements during Muharram.\u201d
\nThe patchwork work on the routes would be completed by tomorrow evening, the DC informed.
\nThe Assistant Commissioners are visiting the Muharram procession routes in their respective tehsils, he added.
\nCertificates would be taken from all the departments after the completion of work on all the routes of Muharram processions, Hasan Waqar Cheema said.
\nThe DC said that the authorities concerned are checking all the arrangements by visiting the routes.
\nLater, Commissioner Aamir Khattak visited the central control room set up in the Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation office. On this occasion, Municipal Officer, Imran Ali gave a briefing to the Commissioner.
\nThe routes of Muharram processions would be monitored through CCTV cameras, Aamir Khattak said and directed the officers to nominate focal persons of all the concerned departments and prepare their duty rosters.
