{"id":65178,"date":"2024-05-23T10:07:32","date_gmt":"2024-05-23T05:07:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nabanews.pk\/en\/?p=65178"},"modified":"2024-05-23T10:07:32","modified_gmt":"2024-05-23T05:07:32","slug":"russia-returns-six-children-to-ukraine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nabanews.pk\/en\/russia-returns-six-children-to-ukraine\/","title":{"rendered":"Russia returns six children to Ukraine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Moscow<br \/>\nRussia has returned six children displaced by the conflict in Ukraine to their families in a deal brokered by Qatar, Russia\u2019s state-run TASS news agency reported on Wednesday.<br \/>\nUkraine believes Russia has illegally taken more than 19,000 of its children since the start of its 2022 offensive, of which fewer than 400 have been returned.<br \/>\nThe children \u2014 a group of boys aged six to 17 that included two brothers \u2014 were reunited with their families at an event in the Qatari embassy in Moscow, the agency reported.<br \/>\nThe event was attended by the Qatari ambassador as well as officials representing Russia\u2019s children\u2019s rights commissioner Maria Lvova-Belova, TASS said.<br \/>\nLvova-Belova is currently wanted by the International Criminal Court for unlawfully deporting children from Ukraine to Russia, a charge the Kremlin denies.<br \/>\nUkraine did not immediately comment.<br \/>\nSince July 2023, Qatar has helped bring back dozens of children taken to Russia and occupied territories during the two-year conflict, an issue that is highly sensitive in Ukraine.<br \/>\nSome of the children\u2019s parents were killed, while others were separated from their carers by the fast-moving front lines at the start of Russia\u2019s offensive.<br \/>\nSome were living in Ukrainian orphanages in areas Russia then occupied.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Moscow Russia has returned six children displaced by the conflict in Ukraine to their families in a deal brokered by Qatar, Russia\u2019s state-run TASS news agency reported on Wednesday.
