\nIndian captain Rohit Sharma said that he would love to be in a contest with the Pakistan cricket team in Test format.
\nWhile speaking to Australian cricket legend Adam Gilchrist and former English skipper Michael Vaughan in a Club Prairie Fire Podcast released on Thursday, Sharma voiced his support for the resumption of bilateral cricket between the neighbours.
\nPakistan and India have not played each other in the longest format of the game since 2007 as bilateral cricket between the two neighbours remains suspended.
\nSince India hosted Pakistan in a limited-overs series in 2013, the pair have only competed against each other in World Cups and the Asia Cup.
\nThe last time they met was at the World Cup in October, where India steamrolled Pakistan by seven wickets in a lopsided contest at a heaving Narendra Modi Stadium.
\n\u201cAt the end of the day, we want to be in [a] contest and I think it\u2019ll be a great contest within the two sides,\u201d he said.
\nHe said that he expected the game to be a \u201cgood contest\u201d given Pakistan\u2019s \u201csuperb bowling lineup\u201d, adding that it would be \u201cawesome\u201d if the match is played at a neutral venue.
\nIn 2022, the England Cricket Board offered to become \u201cneutral hosts\u201d for a future Pakistan-India Test series.
\nIn response to Vaughan\u2019s question whether the neighbours playing Tests would benefit the format, Sharma said that he \u201ctotally believed it would\u201d.
\n\u201cIt\u2019s just pure cricket that I\u2019m looking at. I\u2019m not interested in anything else. It\u2019s pure cricket game between bat and ball and it will be a great contest. So why not?\u201d Sharma said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
