\nQatar\u2019s Prime Minister said the country\u2019s mediation efforts between the US and Iran were continuing to \u200bprevent the situation in the region from spiraling out \u200cof control, Al Jazeera TV reported on Saturday.
\nThe US administration remained willing to find a solution even after the midterm elections, signalling that \u200bWashington\u2019s interest in reaching an agreement had not changed, \u200bQatar\u2019s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani said.
\nSignificant progress had been made and Al-Thani expressed confidence that a \u200bsettlement could be reached.
\n\u201cWe cannot wait to reach a perfect agreement; \u200bwe hope to reach a good agreement,\u201d he said.
\nIran\u2019s semi-official Tasnim news agency said on Saturday that initial reports indicated two missiles had struck \u200bQeshm Island, adding there was no official information on possible \u200bdamage.
\nThe United States has not yet announced any attack on targets \u200cinside Iran.
\nCountries in the region had been anticipating that US President Donald Trump, who has held off on strikes on Iran during the weeks leading up to Tuesday\u2019s midterm elections, could restart \u200battacks once the \u200bvoting is over. Iran has repeatedly said it would respond to new attacks by striking at US and \u200bIsraeli targets in neighboring countries.
