Adviser to Finance Minister Khurram Schezad has said that the equity investor base at the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) recorded an all-time high monthly increase of 25,747 in October 2026, which was up by 66 percent on year on year, taking the total investor base to a record 681,965.
\nIn just 10 months of 2026 (Jan\u2013Oct), PSX added 218,894 net new investors\u2014 more than the previous four full calendar years (2022\u20132025) combined, and nearly matching the additions of the previous five years (2021\u20132025), he posted on X.
\nHe said that 218,894 net new investor additions during January to October 2026, taking the total investor base to 681,965, up 56% on YoY, adding that the 406,995 net new investors added since June 2022 \u2014 an impressive 148% expansion from the then investor base of 274,970.
\nAround 85% of new investors are Gen Z and Millennials, highlighting the growing participation of Pakistan\u2019s younger generation in capital markets, he said adding that the the sustained rise in investor participation signals growing confidence in Pakistan\u2019s economic stabilization, improving macroeconomic fundamentals, policy direction and long-term capital-market prospects.
