\nIranian Defence Minister Mehrdad Akhlaghi has pledged to strengthen the country\u2019s combat capabilities to ensure a swift, effective and proportionate response to any threat, regardless of geographical limitations.
\nIn a message issued on Sunday, Akhlaghi said the Ministry of Defence had carefully examined the strategic measures and directives issued by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei to senior commanders of the Armed Forces.
\nHe said the directives had established the roadmap and strategic direction for Iran\u2019s defence establishment in the coming period, placing greater responsibility on the ministry to safeguard national security, independence and authority.
\nThe defence minister said accelerating the design, production and supply of defence equipment and weapons, strengthening industrial and technological infrastructure, and enhancing logistical support for the Armed Forces were among the ministry\u2019s key priorities.
\nWarning those threatening Iran\u2019s national security and interests, he said any act of aggression would receive a proportionate, decisive and impactful response.
\n\u201cThe extent, timing and consequences of Iran\u2019s defensive response will not be decided by those who make the threats,\u201d he said.
\nAkhlaghi maintained that Iran possessed the readiness, determination and capabilities required to defend its national security and interests.
\nHe added that the Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces Logistics would pursue the implementation of these measures by utilising the expertise of Iranian specialists and scientists, domestic defence industries, knowledge-based companies and the country\u2019s human resources.
