{"id":105110,"date":"2026-10-30T12:23:13","date_gmt":"2026-10-30T07:23:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nabanews.pk\/en\/?p=105110"},"modified":"2026-10-30T12:23:13","modified_gmt":"2026-10-30T07:23:13","slug":"australian-court-orders-erin-patterson-never-to-be-released-from-prison-for-mushroom-poisonings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nabanews.pk\/en\/australian-court-orders-erin-patterson-never-to-be-released-from-prison-for-mushroom-poisonings\/","title":{"rendered":"Australian court orders Erin Patterson never to be released from prison for mushroom poisonings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MELBOURNE: An Australian appeals court on Friday ordered Erin Patterson to never be released from prison because of the \u201cshocking criminality\u201d involved in poisoning four of her estranged husband\u2019s relatives with death cap mushrooms.<\/p>\n<p>The three judges of the Victoria state Court of Appeal upheld prosecutors\u2019 challenge to the leniency of her 33-year non-parole sentence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis offending was extraordinarily cold and calculated and stands to be denounced in the strongest terms,\u201d Justice Stephen McLeish said on behalf of the three judges.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn all the circumstances after anxious consideration, we have concluded that the case involved such shocking criminality as it is inappropriate to fix a non-parole period,\u201d McLeish added.<\/p>\n<p>The judges also dismissed Patterson\u2019s challenge to her convictions that stemmed from a family meal she hosted at her rural home in Leongatha in July 2023.<\/p>\n<p>She can apply to Australia\u2019s High Court to overturn the verdicts on her sentence and her convictions.
