Member Advisory Council for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Aamir Javed has said effective protection of human rights is indispensable for improving the country\u2019s global image and international ranking.
\nAccording to a statement, he was presiding over a joint meeting of the Directorate of Law and Human Rights, Women Ombudsperson and Provincial Ombudsperson in Peshawar.
\nThe meeting was convened in the light of directions given in the previous meeting to promote coordinated liaison and joint strategy among institutions.
\nHe said observance of human rights was of key importance in improving any country\u2019s global identity, international credibility and its position in world indices.
\nIn the context of international requirements such as gender disparity, human rights index and GSP Plus, there was need to make institutional measures for protection of human rights more effective and integrated.
\nMr Javed said 13 institutions were working for protection and promotion of human rights in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on which resources from the public exchequer were also being spent.
\nTo ensure their performance and effective utilisation of resources, coordinated coordination, referral mechanism and establishment of a joint digital portal were indispensable, he added.
\nHe said through the joint digital portal, consolidated reporting of activities, complaints, referrals and progress of all relevant institutions would be possible, which would enable accurate assessment of institutional performance, prevention of duplication, better utilisation of resources and effective redressal of public complaints.
\nHe further directed that if needed, assistance should also be sought from ADC Relief and Human Rights and serious and practical steps should be taken to make the joint digital portal functional.
\nAamir Javed directed the relevant institutions to ensure achievement of measurable results for protection of human rights by making mutual cooperation and exchange of information effective.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
