\nIran\u2019s President Masoud Pezeshkian on Friday urged countries to condemn what he called \u201cecocide\u201d in the Middle East caused by \u201cwars of aggression\u201d.
\nPezeshkian said the conflicts in Gaza and the wider Middle East had inflicted a significant toll on nature that extended beyond borders and required \u201cinternational solutions\u201d.
\n\u201cWhat has occurred in our region as a result of wars of aggression is ecocide, or environmental genocide, and it must be condemned,\u201d Pezeshkian told a nature summit in Armenia attended by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
\nTrump rules out use of nuclear weapons against Iran US President Donald Trump ruled out using nuclear weapons against Iran, saying Washington did not need them and emphasising that the \u201cmother of all bombs\u201d was non-nuclear.
\nAsked during an interview on Thursday with Newsmax about reports that his administration was considering using the bomb against Iran, potentially after the US midterm elections, Trump stressed that it was a conventional weapon.
\n\u201cThe mother of all bombs is not nuclear,\u201d Trump said, adding: \u201cThis is just an extremely large bomb.\u201d He reiterated that the weapon was not nuclear.
\n\u201cThe mother of all bombs is one big bomb, but it\u2019s not nuclear,\u201d he said.
\nTrump ruled out using nuclear weapons, saying the US did not need to resort to them. \u201cNo, I wouldn\u2019t use nuclear. We don\u2019t have to,\u201d he said.
\nTrump also raised the possibility of further strikes against Iran\u2019s nuclear facilities, including a suspected underground site known as Pickaxe Mountain.
\n\u201cNow, we\u2019re looking at Pickaxe Mountain. We may have to go there,\u201d he said.
\n\u201cWe\u2019ll take a shot at that one. We\u2019ll knock it out fast.\u201d
\nAsked whether such an operation would involve American ground troops, Trump replied: \u201cNo, I don\u2019t see that. I don\u2019t see that.\u201d
\nHe said withdrawing before ensuring Iran could not obtain nuclear weapons might require further US military action within a year.
\n\u201cWe want to make it so that they will never have a nuclear weapon,\u201d he said.

\nTrump also predicted that the war would end soon, saying Tehran was negotiating with Washington.
\n\u201cThe Iran war will be over very soon. It\u2019s going to end very soon,\u201d he said.
\n\u201cOne way or the other, it\u2019ll end very soon. And oil will go dropping like a rock \u2014 and gas prices as well.\u201d
\nTrump claimed Iranian officials had requested a halt to American and Israeli military operations.
\n\u201cThey\u2019ve asked us to please stop. And we do, because we\u2019re negotiating with them,\u201d he said.
\nAsked whether he trusted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump responded: \u201cI don\u2019t trust anybody, honestly.\u201d
