A large number of lawyers affiliated with the Insaf Lawyers Forum staged a protest outside the Peshawar High Court on Tuesday against the possible imposition of governor\u2019s rule and emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
\nThe protesters carried banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the proposed measures and chanted slogans against what they described as unconstitutional actions by the government.
\nAddressing the demonstration, lawyers\u2019 leaders said the supremacy of the Constitution and the rule of law were non-negotiable, warning that weakening democratic institutions and misusing discretionary powers could push the country into a deeper political crisis.
\nThey urged the government to refrain from taking steps that, in their view, could undermine constitutional and democratic principles.
\nThe lawyers warned that if their concerns were not addressed, the legal fraternity would be compelled to launch a nationwide protest movement.
