Ms Gulzar alleged that first threat statements were issued from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and now cheap tactics were being employed to stop the long march.
“We are not afraid of any baton, bullet or ban. The long march will happen,” she said. She said those who used to abuse the Constitution of Pakistan were now sitting in assemblies posing as patriots.
“It is a matter of shame that today a chief minister of a province feels threatened not from India but from Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” she remarked.
Criticising the federal government, she said people had been deprived of the ability to buy petrol, electricity and flour due to selfish rulers. She said federal ministers who did not have time for the martyrs of the province were coming to Peshawar to hold press conferences against PTI.
She said that in order to strangle democracy and stop the long march, talk of emergency and governor’s rule was being floated. The central government had directed an army of ministers towards Khyber Pakhtunkhwa who were regularly holding press conferences against PTI.
“These are the same people who are not seen at the funerals of the people and security forces who fall victim to terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and today they are lecturing on democracy,” she said.
“We are protesting peacefully and the government should tolerate it,” she said, adding: “Pashtuns are also ours, the army is also ours and the police is also ours, so these institutions should not be made to fight the people and powers should not be misused. We are peaceful, so instead of confrontation, reconciliation should be adopted and we should be allowed to hold a peaceful long march.”
Commenting on Shaukat Yousafzai, she said his statement was his own thinking and if he felt any threat he should inform the party.
Lawyer Muazzam Butt, who also spoke on the occasion, said the National Assembly session had been convened on October 1 and an attempt was being made to impose emergency and governor’s rule on the pretext of the long march and PTI’s protest movement.
“Those who oppress Pashtuns should see that it was these same Pashtuns who fought for Kashmir and supported Pakistan in the referendum for Pakistan, and Pashtuns have made heartfelt sacrifices and will continue to do so,” he said.

PESHAWAR Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MNA Shandana Gulzar on Wednesday announced that the party will hold a long march towards Islamabad on October 4 under the leadership of Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, saying no amount of intimidation could stop it.
