\nAdviser to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Finance Muzzammil Aslam on Tuesday said that following the federal National Action Plan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had its own Provincial Action Plan.
\nResponding to a statement by Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar, he said the chief minister did not head the National Action Plan under any circumstances and Mr Tarar needed to be aware of basic facts.
\nMr Aslam said around 10 per cent of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa budget had been allocated for security, while the province\u2019s security budget was significantly higher compared to other provinces. During the last three years, the security budget had increased from Rs65 billion to Rs190 billion, he added.
\nHe said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was spending the highest level of resources on security in the fight against terrorism.
\nMr Aslam said Rs191.4 billion had been allocated for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, while the current police budget had increased by 41 per cent compared to 2024-25.
\nHe said the operational budget of police had increased from Rs15.1bn to Rs30.2bn in two years. As of Sept 22, Rs137.8bn had already been released from the current police budget, which accounted for 79.2pc of total current police budget, he added.
\nAccording to him, 97.4pc of funds allocated under police development budget had already been released. He added that expenditure on equipment, vehicles and machinery for police had increased from Rs3.3bn to Rs14.5bn.
\nHe said since 2024-25, approval had been granted for 3,050 new posts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, increasing the sanctioned strength from 136,268 to 139,318 personnel.
\nMr Aslam said risk allowance for police personnel had also been increased with effect from July 2026.
