MOSCOW
\nUkraine has fired its largest drone attack on the Moscow region, the mayor has said, hitting the city\u2019s main oil refinery and a residential building.
\nMayor Sergei Sobyanin said 450 drones heading for the capital had been shot down in what he called \u201cthe most massive\u201d attack. The region\u2019s governor said at least two people were killed and 20 injured.
\nUkraine\u2019s President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed Kyiv had hit a \u201ckey\u201d Russian oil facility and a logistics site in the region with drones and missiles, representing \u201cbillions of dollars that sustain the war machine\u201d.
\nUkrainian officials meanwhile said nine people, including three children, had been killed in Russian attacks in the Kyiv and Sumy regions on Saturday.
\nRussia and Ukraine have recently intensified their strikes, targeting energy-generating and transport facilities, as well as major logistics hubs.
\nA 44-year-old woman was killed in Sofyino on Sunday after a drone hit a three-storey residential building, regional head Andrei Vorobyev said. Another five people \u2013 including two children \u2013 were injured.
\nAn elderly man died after a private house was hit in the Orekhovo-Zuevo district, Governor Andrei Vorobyev added.

\nMayor Sobyanin said a drone had struck a building near one of the capital\u2019s boulevards and the oil refinery \u2013 where Ukrainian military officials said three key units had been damaged.
\nThe site supplies more than a third of the Moscow region\u2019s fuel, according to the defence ministry in Kyiv, and some of its petrol, diesel and aviation fuel go to Russia\u2019s military.
\nUkraine\u2019s defence minister said attacking such facilities \u201cdirectly undermines the enemy\u2019s ability to continue its war of aggression and supply its military formations\u201d.
\nSobyanin said the major attack was \u201can attempt to disrupt\u201d Russia\u2019s parliamentary election, which was in its third day on Sunday. The vote is tightly controlled by the Kremlin and has been dismissed by critics as neither free, fair nor transparent.
\nRussian state media reported that an election official was one of two people killed by a drone attack on a bus in a Moscow-controlled part of Kherson in Ukraine on Sunday, citing the head of Russia\u2019s election commission.
\nMeanwhile, Moscow\u2019s biggest airport Sheremetyevo warned passengers \u201ctemporary restrictions\u201d were in place overnight, while at the capital\u2019s Vnukovo airport all arrivals and departures were halted. Restrictions at both airports were lifted by Sunday morning but each warned some flights may still be delayed.
\nIt comes after a mother and her two small children, a boy and a girl, were killed in a Russian attack in the city of Fastiv, Kyiv on Saturday, according to regional head Tymur Tkachenko.
\nHe later said a child injured in a separate attack in Vyshhorod, north of Kyiv, had also died in hospital.
\nIn the north-eastern Sumy region, four people were killed when a Russian drone hit the car they were travelling in, top local official Oleh Hryhorov said.
\nRussia also struck a monastery in the Kherson region with a drone on Saturday, Zelensky said, killing one member of the clergy and injuring four others.
\nBoth Russia and Ukraine have continued to hit energy infrastructure targets in the past week, despite US President Donald Trump claiming on social media that the two sides had agreed not to do so.
\nTrump signed a sanctions bill on Friday that targets Russia\u2019s economy by implementing tariffs on the biggest buyers of the country\u2019s oil and gas which include China and India.
\nThe US legislation gives the US president powers to impose 100% tariffs on major purchasers of Russian energy.
