A meeting of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cabinet\u2019s Legislative Committee on Monday reviewed a proposal to transfer the Centre of Excellence for Countering Violent Extremism from the Higher Education Department to the Home and Tribal Affairs Department.
\nLaw, Human Rights and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Aftab Alam chaired the meeting held in Peshawar. The meeting was attended by the Law Department secretary and officials from the Home and Tribal Affairs Department, representatives of the Advocate General\u2019s Office and other relevant departments.
\nThe committee reviewed the centre\u2019s current status, administrative structure and the legal and operational implications of the proposed transfer.
\nOfficials briefed the meeting that the transfer could improve inter-departmental coordination and strengthen the province\u2019s efforts to counter violent extremism. The committee also discussed measures to ensure that the centre remains fully functional, its administrative structure is clearly defined and the responsibilities of the departments concerned are streamlined to avoid duplication.
\nSpeaking at the meeting, Minister Aftab Alam stressed the need for a strong and integrated institutional strategy to counter violent extremism. He directed the relevant authorities to examine all legal and administrative aspects of the proposed transfer and submit clear and workable recommendations.
\nThe committee agreed that the proposed transfer would require thorough legal vetting and close coordination among the departments concerned to ensure continuity of the centre\u2019s operations and enhance its role in preventing and countering extremist narratives in the province.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
