JD!\u201d as he took the stage at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis fall, the Democrats are running candidates who will tell your children what they\u2019re allowed to say, how they\u2019re allowed to live, and, importantly, who they ought to hate,\u201d Vance said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Democrats are the party of hatred. They\u2019re the party that despises America and the people who built it. They\u2019re the party that can find sympathy for the terrorists who perpetrated 9\/11,\u201d he added<\/p>\n<p>Trump returned to the stage after Vance and immediately praised his vice president.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to thank our great vice president. What a job he did tonight!\u201d Trump said. \u201cYou know, the Democrats are getting nervous.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The president promised to be brief before introducing a convention-closing music set, saying: \u201cI\u2019m getting a little tired of politics now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But he reprised familiar rally lines, attacking \u201cradical left\u201d Democrats and again making himself the centerpiece of the Republican midterm campaign.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not on the ticket. You\u2019ve got to pretend I\u2019m on the ticket,\u201d Trump told supporters.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans head into November under heavy electoral pressure.<\/p>\n<p>US election tracking site Decision Desk HQ projects Democrats will win the House 229-206 and has the Senate on a knife-edge at 50-50. Trump\u2019s approval rating has languished in the low-to-mid 30s amid stubborn inflation and an unpopular war with Iran.<\/p>\n<p>Trump also repeated his extraordinary promise from Wednesday to pay every American adult a $5,000 \u201cTrump dividend\u201d if Republicans retain both chambers of Congress.<\/p>\n<p>Family and future<\/p>\n<p>Vance, meanwhile, sought to sharpen a convention-long portrayal of Democrats as extremists, arguing that disagreements within the Republican coalition were minor compared with what he called the rhetoric of the \u201cfar left.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not asking you to agree with every policy of our administration,\u201d Vance told the crowd.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m asking you to recognize the contrast with the radicals, and the achievements of the last 18 months.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Family and fatherhood were recurring themes as Vance sought to contrast what he described as traditional values with the political left, adding \u201cwe got to send their asses packing in November.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also paid tribute to conservative youth activist Charlie Kirk on the first anniversary of his killing, addressing Kirk\u2019s young children directly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHistory will record that your father was a great man,\u201d Vance said.<\/p>\n<p>Vance turned to his political opponents, accusing them of attacking the traditional family.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo the radicals who wish to abolish my family and the thousands and millions of other families all across our country, we have a simple message for them: stay the hell away from our kids,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>His speech was briefly interrupted by a protester waving a Mexican flag and shouting from the crowd.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, my friend, if you love Mexico so much, get your ass over there,\u201d Vance responded. \u201cI\u2019ll buy you the plane ticket.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>High-stakes gamble<\/p>\n<p>Vance is widely regarded as an early front-runner for the 2028 Republican presidential nomination, although he has said he will not make a decision until after the midterms.<\/p>\n<p>His appearance immediately before Trump\u2019s closing remarks gave him one of the convention\u2019s most prominent speaking slots as Republicans begin to consider their post-Trump future.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to reporters on the tarmac before departing Texas, Trump praised Vance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think he did very well tonight, and he\u2019s a very talented guy. He\u2019s a great &#8212; been a great vice president.
