\nPakistan and Kuwait on Thursday signed a new defence agreement aimed at expanding military cooperation, including training, capacity building and border management between their armed forces
\nTop officials from the countries signed the \u201cProtocol Agreement-2026\u201d in Islamabad, significantly enhancing the existing military cooperation framework established under the \u201cDefence Cooperation Agreement-2023\u201d, the Ministry of Defence said in a statement.
\nThe statement mentioned that the agreement was reached as a high-level delegation from Kuwait, led by Minister of Defence Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Saleem Al-Sabah, met his Pakistan counterpart, Khawaja Muhammad Asif.
\n\u201cDuring the meeting, matters of mutual interest were discussed, with particular focus on bilateral defence relations, security cooperation and further strengthening defence ties between Pakistan and Kuwait,\u201d the ministry\u2019s statement said.
\nWhile announcing the new pact, the ministry said that under the new agreement, the Armed Forces of Pakistan will extend assistance to the Armed Forces of Kuwait in diverse fields, including training, capacity building, border management and other mutually agreed areas of defence collaboration.
\n\u201cThe agreement reflects the deep trust, mutual respect and shared strategic interests underpinning the longstanding defence relationship between the two brotherly countries.\u201d
\nIt added that both sides reaffirmed their resolve to further strengthen this partnership in support of mutual security and regional peace and stability.
