ANKARA
\nTurkiye will continue supporting Syria\u2019s efforts to develop its own military capacity and infrastructure, the defense ministry said on Thursday, after Israel \u200ccarried out \u200cair strikes \u200con a Syrian air base and warned Ankara against what it called \u201cdangerous adventures\u201d there.
\nTurkiye on Thursday denied having any military presence at an air base in north Syria struck by Israel earlier this week.
\nThe denial came two days after Syria accused Israel of striking a disused military air base near the northwestern city of Aleppo that was damaged during the civil war and has been out of service since 2012.
\nIsrael said a Turkish military delegation had recently visited the site, with a Syrian war monitor saying it was part of efforts to reactivate the base. \u201cThere was no Turkish military delegation at the Abu Al-Duhur air base before or during the attack carried out by Israel,\u201d a defense official told journalists, speaking on condition of anonymity.
\nIsrael\u2019s Benjamin Netanyahu\u2019s office also said Turkish forces had recently toured the base, with the prime minister himself warning that Israel would not tolerate a \u201cthreat\u201d from a Turkish presence there. \u201cWe will not tolerate a Turkish military entrenchment moving southward, because it threatens us,\u201d Netanyahu told an army radio podcast.
\nBut Turkish defense ministry spokesman Rear Admiral Zeki Akturk said the strikes were \u201cunacceptable\u201d and that Ankara would act \u201cresolutely\u201d to protect Syria\u2019s efforts to establish post-war stability. \u201cIsrael\u2019s attack on the Abu Al- Duhur air base is aimed at harming Syria\u2019s stability, security, unity, integrity and infrastructure.
