\nUS President Donald Trump on Tuesday said that no talks with Iran were underway or scheduled, adding that the Strait of Hormuz remained open under Washington\u2019s naval blockade.
\n\u201cThere are no talks or conversations going on, or scheduled, with the Islamic Republic of Iran,\u201d Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
\n\u201cThe Naval Blockade remains in full force and effect. The Hormuz Strait is open and operating. All water mines have been removed or detonated,\u201d he added.
\nTrump shares image depicting Strait of Hormuz as \u2018US territory\u2019
\nTrump earlier shared an image depicting the Strait of Hormuz as US territory, days after saying he would declare the strategic waterway part of the United States.
\nTrump posted an image on his social media account showing a map of the Strait of Hormuz labelled \u201cNew US territory\u201d, echoing his earlier remarks about declaring the waterway US territory.
\nSpeaking at an event on August 14, Trump had claimed that the US Navy was enforcing a complete blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
\n\u201cAfter we finish defeating Iran, which is being very badly defeated, pretty soon I\u2019ll be declaring the Hormuz Strait a territory of the United States,\u201d Trump had said.
\nIn a separate social media post, Trump had also said the US had \u201ctotal control\u201d over the Strait of Hormuz and that he believed Washington could maintain that control.
