\nYemen\u2019s Ansar Allah group, also known as the Houthis, claimed on Monday that its forces had targeted several Saudi naval vessels \u2013 along with a weapons depot \u2013 in a wide-ranging missile and drone barrage.
\nIn a statement posted on Telegram, Houthi spokesperson Yahya Saree said a Saudi amphibious transport ship and several accompanying naval vessels had been successfully struck in an aerial attack involving \u201ca number of\u201d ballistic missiles
\nDescribing the missile strike as \u201cprecise,\u201d Saree said that several of the targeted ships had been sunk \u2013 while the rest had caught fire \u2013 as a result of the attack.
\nHouthi forces also targeted a Saudi weapons depot in the Sahn al-Jin camp, located in Yemen\u2019s central-eastern Marib province, with multiple drones, he added.
\nAs of publication, the claims had not yet been confirmed by the Saudi authorities.

\nUS President Donald Trump on Monday threatened military action against Oman if it interferes with US-Iran negotiations, while saying Washington is in direct contact with officials from Iran\u2019s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

\nIran said Saturday that it had reached an agreement with Oman on a shipping route map for the Strait of Hormuz following weeks of technical negotiations.
\nTurning to Iran, Trump said Tehran should raise a \u201cwhite flag of surrender,\u201d adding: \u201cThey\u2019re good poker players, but they\u2019re dying.\u201d
\nHe also confirmed that Washington has a backchannel with the IRGC. \u201cWe have a backchannel with the IRGC. We are speaking directly with the IRGC officials in Iran,\u201d Trump said.
\nOn Gaza, he said: \u201cIsraelis should not be striking in Gaza. Hamas agreed to lay down their weapons.\u201d
\nTrump also said the US maintains a separate channel of communication with Hamas. \u201cWe have a different channel with Hamas, and ultimately they are giving up their guns,\u201d he said.
\nThe remarks come as Washington pushes ahead with efforts to implement Trump\u2019s Gaza peace plan, which includes the disarmament of Hamas and an Israeli military withdrawal from the enclave.
\nAsked about Israeli politics, Trump said he believed it was \u201cmost appropriate\u201d for him to stay out of the country\u2019s elections, while leaving open the possibility of endorsing a candidate. \u201cI think it\u2019s most appropriate for me to stay out of Israeli elections, but I may endorse somebody,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
