{"id":101703,"date":"2026-08-17T13:36:12","date_gmt":"2026-08-17T08:36:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nabanews.pk\/en\/?p=101703"},"modified":"2026-08-17T13:36:12","modified_gmt":"2026-08-17T08:36:12","slug":"sept-27-long-march-will-be-decisive-cm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nabanews.pk\/en\/sept-27-long-march-will-be-decisive-cm\/","title":{"rendered":"Sept 27 long march will be \u2018decisive\u2019: CM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BANNU<br \/>\nKhyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Saturday said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf\u2019s long march scheduled for September 27 would be \u201cdecisive\u201d and called for thorough preparations.<br \/>\nSpeaking at a street rally in Bannu during a one-day visit, Mr Afridi thanked residents for attending \u201cdespite the intense heat\u201d and said the same spirit must be maintained for the march to Islamabad.<br \/>\nPTI Provincial President Junaid Akbar Khan, provincial ministers Shafi Jan and Meena Khan Afridi, MNA Shahid Khattak and other party leaders also attended the rally.<br \/>\nThe chief minister said the country was at a \u201ccritical juncture\u201d and that people had to determine their own future. \u201cNo one will come from outside to change our destiny; we have to do it ourselves,\u201d he said.<br \/>\nOn the security situation, Mr Afridi said peace prevailed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa when Imran Khan was prime minister until 2022. He held the current federal government responsible for the deterioration in peace in the province.<br \/>\nHe said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had been \u201ctreated as a laboratory for experiments for the past two decades\u201d and that his government would resist decisions that undermined the province\u2019s interests and rights.<br \/>\nMr Afridi said the people of KP had made \u201cimmense sacrifices, including thousands of lives\u201d for peace, but decisions taken \u201cbehind closed doors\u201d had undermined those gains. He added that peace was essential for development and economic opportunity.<br \/>\nPaying tribute to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, the chief minister said the provincial government had allocated Rs191 billion for the police in the budget. He said resources were also being spent on police infrastructure, modern equipment and training.<br \/>\nHe further said that between 2018 and 2022 decisions taken in the public interest had improved conditions, while at present \u201ceven the courts had been held hostage\u201d and the country\u2019s \u201cmost popular leader\u201d remained in jail.<br \/>\nMr Afridi urged people to come out on September 27 for a system where the law applied equally to all.
